Installation
All the Way Down
In the shadowed corner of the gallery, the artist's childhood toys encircle a spiral of stickers on the floor. At the center, smoldering pieces of charcoal are continuously tended by the artist, who regularly adds frankincense resin—the same resin that burns in the churches of Jerusalem's Old City.
This work is a journey into the elusive landscape of memory, where scent and place converge to reveal the shadowy fragments of the artist's childhood.
At the Empty House
Within an abandoned building, the elements of this site-specific installation hung delicately over crumbling walls and a broken floor. It was as if the piece sought to glorify the cracks and imperfections of the space, revealing them rather than concealing them.
This work was exhibited as part of a group show alongside Empty House, a Jerusalem-based art collective active since 2011. Empty House is known for taking control of abandoned buildings and transforming them into artistic happenings.
Animita
An empty room holds a small, house-like structure. The air, heavy with the scent of anise. Above, golden threads suspend a bottle of Arak, its drops steadily fall through the roof of the house to land inside where they sizzle on a Turkish coffee pot that stands the fire of a gas burner.
This installation is an echo of the artist's journey through South America, and his encounters with Animitas – roadside shrines built to commemorate those lost on their travels.
